Giving Policy
Treasures in Heaven is pleased to partner with and financially give to Christian organizations that are strategically sharing the love and teachings of Jesus Christ with the world.
To realize maximum benefit from its financial distributions, the organization has established the following policies to guide its funding decisions:
- Tax-Exempt Organizations. All distributions must be made to organizations which are recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS. No distributions can be made directly to individuals.
- Christian. All distributions must be made to Christian organizations that have a published statement of belief which confirms to basic Christian beliefs as defined in the Treasures in Heaven "Core Statement of Belief".
- Missionaries. In keeping with the missionary support model, distributions may be made to a tax-exempt "sending organization" to support the activities of the requesting individual. Such requesting individual must be associated with and accountable to the sending organization, adhere to the core beliefs of Treasures in Heaven, and have gone through a selective application process and training of the sending organization.
- No Conflict of Interest. The directors, and any persons involved with distribution decisions at Treasures in Heaven, and their immediate family members, are ineligible to receive financial grants for their ministry activities or mission trips unless it is approved by a resolution of the Board of Directors. Persons involved in distribution decisions must read and abide by the organization's Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Renewable. The organization may not pledge monthly or recurring support for more than 5 years at a time, and it favors one-year pledges. The organization welcomes renewal requests for expiring pledges.
- Cross-Cultural. The organization favors supporting activities with a mobilization, overseas, or cross-cultural purpose.
- Referrals. The organization favors opportunities that are referred by Treasures in Heaven donors and are connected to the areas from which funds are raised.
- Prayer Letters. The organization favors supporting missionaries who involve donors by corresponding about their activities through a prayer letter or newsletter. Missionaries and organizations receiving distributions from the organization are required to send periodic and final updates informing Treasures in Heaven on utilization of funds. Prayer letters generally fulfill this requirement.
- Selective. The organization has more partnership opportunities each year than can be funded with limited resources. As a result, the organization is only able to financially partner with those opportunities that are most in line with its organizational purpose.
