Statement of Faith
Core Beliefs
Treasures in Heaven holds to these basic Christian beliefs and will only support organizations whose beliefs are in accordance with these Treasures in Heaven basic Christian beliefs as taken from the Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed.
- We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
- We believe in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord,
- who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
- was crucified, died, and was buried;
- On the third day he rose again;
- He ascended into heaven,
- He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
- He will come to judge the living and the dead,
- and His kingdom will have no end.
- We believe in:
- the Holy Spirit,
- one holy, universal Church,
- the communion of saints,
- the forgiveness of sins,
- the resurrection of the body,
- and the life everlasting.
Distinctive Beliefs
Treasures in Heaven also holds to these beliefs that more completely define our evangelical Christian faith and distinctly set us apart as a ministry. Organizations and individuals need not hold to all of these beliefs to partner and serve with Treasures in Heaven. However, Treasures in Heaven is based upon and will continue to promote these beliefs.
- The Holy Bible the Holy Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the revelation of God to mankind, is verbally and fully inspired by Him, is sufficient for the knowledge of God and His will that is necessary for the eternal welfare of mankind, is infallible and inerrant in its original manuscripts, and is the supreme and final authority for all Christian faith and conduct. (backtothebible.org)
- The Great Commission The Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. (Cru)
- Response To God God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. (ECFA)
- The Church The Church of Jesus Christ is the universal company of God's redeemed people, His Body, of which He is the head, His Bride, whom He loves infinitely, and His temple, in which He dwells. This universal Body of Christ is visibly expressed in local assemblies, whose purpose is to glorify God through worship, fellowship, instruction in God's Word, observing the ordinances and training in service to the world. The supreme task in the mission of the Church is to make disciples for Christ in all the nations through the proclamation and teaching of the Gospel. The Church is also to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ, through word and deed, in an alienated world. (backtothebible.org)
- Para-Church Organizations In addition to their commitment to a local church, Christians may properly involve themselves in para-church organizations for specialized ministry. (ICBI)
- Giving
- All the wealth on this planet ultimately belongs to God.
- God entrusts Christians with stewardship of the resources He gives us.
- The Holy Spirit leads Christian individuals and groups in the management and giving of God's entrusted resources.
- God expects Christians to be wise and strategic in the way they use His resources to carry out His will.
- God blesses believers when they are obedient to give 10% of their income to the work of God.
- The Christian's first responsibility in tithing is to support a local church, which should be the primary agent for making disciples for Christ in all the nations.
- The local church has a responsibility to filter, coach, encourage, and support those in their congregation who are called by God to serve as missionaries.
- Individual Christians are led by the Holy Spirit to encourage, pray for, partner with, and financially support those around them who are called by God to a specific ministry or mission.
- Christ's Return
- We believe in the personal, bodily and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission.
- Christ will not return until every tribe, tongue and nation on Earth has a group of redeemed and transformed Christ-followers.
- Policy Updates. The board of directors may periodically review these distinctive beliefs and adjust them by corporate resolution to more clearly define the organization. The core beliefs may only be edited by modifying the organizational bylaws.
