Pray, Give, Go
We dream of a world where every Christian is passionately invested in the world-wide revolution of Jesus. The three most common ways to get involved in God's story are to Pray for the work beyond your hometown, Give to individual missionaries that you know, and Go on a mission trip.
Pray
Praying for world-missions is not easy. We know we should do it, but most of us barely have time to pray for our own lives and families. If you find it hard to pray for the world, try these simple steps to make the task more practical.
- Ask God to give you an interest in some part of the world.
- Visit the Joshua Project and learn about different regions of the world.
- Choose a region that is meaningful to you.
- Ask God to show you how he is working in this region.
- Continue to pray for that region and learn about specific countries or ministries there.
Give
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matt 6:21
God asks Christ-followers to obediently trust him to give 10% or more of our income to Him. In return he promises to bless us. Our first priority in giving should be to support our local church. Secondly, we should support those we personally know, whom we believe have been called to serve God. Thirdly, we should support those para-church organizations and charities that align with our values and make the world a better place.
It is important to give to groups like Treasures in Heaven as part of our over-all giving plan, but it is more important that we support and give directly to missionaries whom we already know and are praying for. Our gift to them is more than just financial support. It is a validation of God's call on their life and an encouragement that they are not alone in their work.
Unless otherwise requested by the donor, all donations made to Treasures in Heaven are used to support Christian missions around the world until Christ returns.

Whether you feel called to mission work or not, going on a short, organized group trip with a specific Christian purpose can change your life and the lives of your friends and family as they support and pray for you. Your church or the organizations that you support can give you information on short-term mission trips that may be right for you.
Short-term mission trips are usually a stepping stone to something bigger. Once we go on a short-term trip, God often gives us insight into how our lives should fit into His kingdom. Maybe he is preparing us to become career missionaries on another continent. More than likely, he is preparing us to do more praying and giving as we plug into our local church as a volunteer or small group leader. Either way, a short-term mission trip or vision trip can change us as much as it helps the people we are going to help.
